QUALIFICATIONS: MS Assistant Softball Coachย 

1. Has the ability to organize and supervise aย program.ย 

2. Previous coaching experience preferred

3. The coachย must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.

and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent toย 

the sport.ย 

4. The sponsorย must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes throughย 

his/her instructions and actions.ย 
ย 

REPORTS TO: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation

JOB GOAL: To instruct studentsย in the fundamental skills, strategy and other items

necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the sameย 

time, the sponsorย must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to sociallyย 

acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride ofย 

accomplishment in the students.
ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

1. Serves as a mentor to each studentย to promote the development and demonstrate

the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.ย 

2. Gives constant attention to a studentsย grades and conduct.ย 

3. By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance andย 

safeguards for each participant.ย 

4. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each studentย who isย 

considered a participant.ย 

5. Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement ofย 

discipline is necessary and contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.ย 

FINANCE AND EQUIPMENT:ย 

1. Participates in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for theย 

next season. Recommends equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications.ย 

Is responsible for operating within budget appropriations.ย 

2. Is accountable for all equipment and collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.ย 

Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory andย 

current records concerning same.ย 

3. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.ย 

4. Permits studentย to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.ย 

5. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.ย 

6. Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.ย 
ย 

PUBLIC RELATIONS:ย 

1. Organizes parents,ย players and guests for preseason meetings.ย 

2. Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials,ย 

volunteers and fans.ย
