We are currently seeking arelationship managementprofessional with experience in theearly-stage technology startupindustry to join our team.The primary responsibilities of the DirectorofRelationship Managementare to build, maintain, and engage strategic relationships within thetechnologyinvestor community to help scale and grow SVB's businesses; be an SVB ambassador; cross-sell the SVB platform by winning and retaining the best opportunities; provide strategic insight and advice to critical investor relationships and internal bank stakeholders. Based inAustin, the ideal candidate is already active in the local ecosystem, with an existing and growing network of investors, influencers, and relevant stakeholder relationships.


Responsibilities

The DirectorofRelationship Managementwill have responsibilities across the following key areas:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Own a portfolio of Pre-Seed and Seed stage clients and driveportfolio'sKey Performance Indicators (KPIs) for acquisition, retention, growth, and quality referrals.
  • Own the P&L, overseeing budget responsibilities andpossessbusinessdevelopment mindset, delivering SVB's value proposition to the market.
  • Oversee risk assessments, emerging riskidentificationand mitigation, ensuring effective controls are in place for theportfolioand risk issues are resolved on time.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the VC ecosystem andmaintainstrong relationships with relevant seed investors and channels.
  • Leverage deepexpertiseto cross-sell andreferrelevant banking products and services.
  • Manage and resolve escalated client issues efficiently and effectively.

Team Leadership and Development - People Leader:

  • Lead a team of Relationship Managers, responsible coaching, mentorship, andpeopleleadership.
  • Build outbenchof internal/external talent to support long-term growthobjectives.
  • Mentor and develop a team of banking professionals, enhancing their skills in consultative selling, relationship management, and industry knowledge.
  • Make decisionsregardingteam performance management, goal setting, and professional development.
  • Lead by example in client interactions and internal collaborations, setting a high standard for professionalism and customer-centricity.

Market Strategy &Business Development:

  • Engage in market facing opportunities to build mass market influence, driving business growth;participateas thought partner in meaningful industry events and conferences as a speaker,participantand sponsor, while embodying the role of a brand ambassador.
  • Manage and develop key channel partnerships while being a highly visible ambassador for SVB Startup Banking in the Austin market.
  • Partner with our Accelerator Growth (Series A+) teams in Austin, coordinating go-to-market strategy, key relationships, and market intel.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with strategic channel partners, including accelerators, incubators, seed-stage investors, and universities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 6 years ofRelationship Management / Business Development experience inthestartup technologyecosystem OR High School or GED and 10 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise:Active intheAustinVC andtechstartup community.Experiencebuilding long-term, sales-oriented relationships, and managing partnerships.Build andmaintaininvestor relationships, devise strategies for developing new business, and collaborate well acrossinternal teams.
