Channel Partner Sales Manager information

What is a channel partner sales manager?

A Channel Partner Sales Manager is a professional responsible for developing and managing relationships with third-party businesses, known as channel partners, to drive sales and expand market reach. Their main duties include recruiting new partners, providing training and support, setting sales targets, and ensuring partners align with the company's goals and strategies. They act as a bridge between their company and external partners, helping both parties achieve mutual success in sales and growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a channel partner sales manager?

To thrive as a Channel Partner Sales Manager, you need strong sales acumen, relationship management skills, and a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, channel management tools, and relevant sales certifications are typically required. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking abilities help you build lasting partnerships and drive revenue growth. These skills and qualifications are important because they enable effective collaboration with partners, alignment on business goals, and successful execution of joint sales initiatives.

How does a channel partner sales manager typically collaborate with external partners to drive sales growth?

A Channel Partner Sales Manager works closely with external partners such as resellers, distributors, and integrators to develop joint business plans, set sales targets, and provide ongoing support. This often involves regular communication, co-hosting training sessions, and sharing market insights to ensure partners are well-equipped to represent the company's products or services. Building strong, trust-based relationships is crucial for overcoming challenges such as misaligned goals or fluctuating market demand. Effective collaboration also often includes coordinating marketing efforts, resolving conflicts, and monitoring performance to achieve mutual sales objectives.

In this quota-carrying role, you'll work cross-functionally with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Marketing, and our global Partner organization to develop go-to-market strategies, execute joint business plans, and ensure partners have the resources and support needed to successfully position and sell Freshworks solutions.
Success in this role requires strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and a passion for helping partners grow their business while delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
Requirements
  • Own and grow strategic relationships with channel partners, distributors, and solution providers across North America.

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with partner leadership while serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Collaborate closely with Freshworks Sales, Solutions Engineering, Marketing, and Partner Enablement teams to align go-to-market strategies.
  • Drive partner recruitment, onboarding, enablement, and ongoing success to maximize partner productivity.
  • Identify and develop new partnership opportunities that expand market reach and accelerate business growth.
  • Coordinate joint marketing initiatives, sales campaigns, and partner events to generate demand and increase partner engagement.
  • Represent the voice of the partner internally by advocating for partner needs, providing market feedback, and influencing cross-functional priorities.
  • Accurately forecast partner pipeline and revenue while consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Channel Sales, Partner Sales, Alliance Management, or indirect sales within a SaaS or enterprise software company.
  • Demonstrated success managing strategic partner relationships and consistently achieving or exceeding quota.
  • Experience building partner-generated pipeline and driving indirect revenue growth through channel ecosystems.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic business plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working across global, cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience working for, partnering with, or competing against CX platforms such as Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud, ServiceNow, Intercom, Genesys, NICE, or similar solutions is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of customer support, omnichannel engagement, contact center, automation, or AI-powered customer service solutions.
  • Live in the Eastern Time Zone
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
