At Chanel, we are focused on creating an inclusive culture that nurtures personal growth, contributing to collective progress. We believe the uniqueness of each individual increases the diversity, complementarity and effectiveness of our teams. We strongly encourage your application, as we value the perspective, experience and potential you could bring to CHANEL

About the Role:

Chanel, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Anti-Counterfeiting Counsel to join our U.S. Legal Department in New York City. In partnership with the U.S. Head of Intellectual Property, you will safeguard the integrity of the House-protecting brand equity, craftsmanship, and client trust by leading the U.S. anti-counterfeiting program across online/digital and brick-and-mortar environments. You will be a trusted advisor to key stakeholders and manage external partners to drive enforcement. This role also owns reporting and KPIs, budget stewardship, and the development of scalable processes and a high-performing team in a rapidly evolving counterfeiting landscape.

What impact you can create at CHANEL

Core Program

  • Develop and execute the U.S. anti-counterfeiting strategy and annual objectives to protect the brand and client trust, aligned with global and regional priorities.
  • Own program governance, including matter intake and prioritization, playbooks, escalation paths, and continuous improvement of processes and tools.
  • Define and track KPIs and dashboards to measure enforcement impact, risk trends, and operational performance.
  • Manage program budget; ensure cost-effective deployment and oversight of investigators, service providers, and outside counsel.
  • Leverage technology, platform tools, and data (including AI-enabled solutions) to improve detection, prioritization, and enforcement outcomes.
  • Exploring new and innovative ways to protect the Brand, including new technology.
  • Keep internal stakeholders apprised of brand protection efforts and matters of significance.

Online / Digital Enforcement

  • Lead enforcement across e-commerce marketplaces, social platforms, domains, and emerging digital channels-using data and technology to identify, investigate, enforce our rights and mitigate risk.
  • Oversee notice-and-takedown workflows and vendor performance; optimize operating models to balance automation with strategic legal oversight.
  • Partner with global and regional teams to strengthen platform relationships, harmonize standards and tooling, and scale best practices.

Brick-and-Mortar Enforcement

  • Direct investigative strategy and enforcement planning for physical-location counterfeiting, partnering closely with internal teams and outside service providers.
  • Maintain relationships with investigators and outside counsel to ensure consistent execution, high-quality reporting, and timely escalation of priority matters.

People Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team currently consisting of one Legal Counsel and one Senior Paralegal by setting priorities and goals, clarifying roles, and building capability through feedback and training.
  • Foster a culture of agility, curiosity, sound judgment, and collaboration so the team can respond quickly to changing priorities and complex enforcement challenges.

Stakeholder Partnership, Training, and External Engagement

  • Advise internal teams on anti-counterfeiting efforts, risk, incident response, and escalation-enabling consistent, well-calibrated decision-making.
  • Design and deliver training, communications, and reference materials to improve counterfeit awareness, evidence integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Represent Chanel with external stakeholders (e.g., trade associations, law enforcement, government agencies, and industry peers) to advance brand protection priorities.

You are energized by:

  • Protecting an iconic global brand against counterfeiting through thoughtful, business-minded enforcement.
  • Collaborating with global counterparts on matters with global implications.
  • Representing Chanel on trade association and industry task forces and committees.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Deep understanding of technology used for counterfeit detection, online platforms, notice-and-takedown procedures, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to work proactively and reactively, independently, and reliably on multiple projects under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

Position Logistics:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; admission to at least one U.S. state bar (New York preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in trademarks and anti-counterfeiting, including investigations, civil enforcement, and experience working with law enforcement and/or criminal matters. Ideally, experience working in both a law firm and in-house environment.
  • Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the our New York Corporate Office.

Compensation:

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $ 134,900 through $195,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position.
