Who We Want:
Responsible for inspection, installation and repair of machines used for production and within the tool room and maintenance machining areas. In addition, build and re-build equipment for various manufacturing needs
What You'll Do:

  • Follow specified maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production machinery and tools
  • Utilize Plex to document appropriate downtime codes
  • Ability to electrically troubleshoot issues using a meter **(level I certification)
  • Knowledge of Press operation and functionality
  • Basic knowledge of Lubrication systems (operation & functionality)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints for troubleshooting
  • Basic troubleshooting skillset when working on mechanical issues
  • Use the following equipment safely: Basic Level
    • Hand Tools
    • Hand and Surface Grinders
    • Wheel Puller
    • Torches
    • Pipe Threader
    • Hydraulic Jack
    • Welders
    • Scissor Lift
    • Lathe
    • Forklift
    • Milling Machine
    • Drill Presses
  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality
  • Complete and manage work orders via the Plex systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance and provide input on updates to preventative maintenance schedules (with guidance from Press Maintenance Mechanic II or III)

When and Where:
This will be a Y- Shift / 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM Friday - Sunday position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MO.
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Valid forklift license issued by Challenge Manufacturing
  • Valid Scissor Lift license issued by Challenge Manufacturing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, heat, sparks, and smoke
  • May also be exposed to water, vibration, dust, grease, and oil
  • Exposure to high and low voltage components and systems
  • Frequently walks, bends, twists, turns, and lifts while performing functions of position
  • Moderate-sized equipment used around work area
  • Possible cuts, scrapes, burns or bruises
  • Eye protection required; hearing protection required; cut resistant arm guards required; cut resistant gloves required
  • Exposure to pinch points, rotating equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).

Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of Machine Repair experience
  • Pneumatics and Hydraulics experience
  • Basic understanding of relevant Press controls and processes
  • Basic understanding of common tool room equipment such as milling machines, drill presses, lathes

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Machine Repair experience preferred
  • Robotics training (electrical, mechanical)
