Job description

Plant Equipment Reliability Technician (Hydraulics/Pneumatics & PLCs)

Do you thrive on solving tough equipment problems? Can you hear a bearing’s story or spot a control loop that’s just a little off? If keeping injection molding lines humming—and downtime at or below 10%—sounds like your kind of challenge, you’ll feel right at home here.

Imagine this

A mold change is queued, an auxiliary chiller needs PM, and a conveyor’s sensor is misreading. You prioritize, isolate faults quickly, adjust instrumentation, and verify performance with a clean test run. By shift’s end, every work order is documented, completed units are tagged, and the plant is ready for the next build.

What you’ll do
  • Maintain and repair facility equipment and grounds across mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC domains.
  • Diagnose through observation and testing; disassemble assemblies to access defective parts, assess wear/fit, and restore to spec.
  • Clean, lubricate, repair/replace parts, and tune instruments/controls; validate performance with start-up tests.
  • Service electrical equipment and control systems; conduct routine plant safety inspections.
  • Close out maintenance requests; log PMs in the book and attach completion tags to serviced auxiliary gear.
  • Follow OSHA/ANSI safe-work practices; submit requisitions with approvals for parts and materials.
  • Bring and maintain your own tools; complete tasks promptly to support production.

Skills and experience
  • 3–5 years’ experience troubleshooting injection molding machinery and secondary equipment.
  • Robotics and PLC background with the ability to diagnose issues and adjust programs using the proper tools.
  • Preferred: industrial electrical knowledge; strong working knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, machinery, and HVAC.
  • Comfortable reading electrical/mechanical schematics; able to interpret complex technical procedures and variables.
  • Bonus: EOAT design/fabrication; valve gate design/installation.
  • Must pass written and practical hi-lo operation tests; prior forklift experience required.
  • Willing to obtain sit-down/stand-up forklift and scissor lift certifications; strictly follows forklift safety rules.
  • Reads and follows work instructions and procedure manuals; dedicated to ongoing training and technology updates.
  • Available for overtime when business needs arise; works effectively, efficiently, and safely in a high-paced manufacturing setting.

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; frequent gripping and fine motor tasks.
  • Stand, twist, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive motions for 8–12 hours.
  • Frequent forward bending at the waist (45° or more); reach overhead and at/below shoulder.
  • Climb ramps/stairs; mount/dismount forklifts, standing lifts, trailers, and ladders.
  • Comfortable with heights and tight/confined areas; work near hot molds, presses, cranes, and industrial equipment.
  • Operate in moderate noise; discern alarms/codes; require close vision (≤20 inches) and color differentiation.
  • Hands-on 60–80% with some desk/computer duties; able to remain stationary 50%–100% as tasks require.
  • Temperature variability up to ~90°F; capable in both hot and cold environments.
  • Frequent exposure to moving machinery, fumes, electrical shock risk, vibration, and high, precarious places.
