Job description
JOB.TITLE, OU.LOCATION, CUSTOM.STATE
At Interfor, we're more than a lumber company - we're helping build the homes, businesses, schools, and communities that people rely on every day. As a JOB.TITLE in OU.LOCATION, CUSTOM.STATE, you'll play a key role in maintaining the saws and cutting equipment that keep our mill running safely and efficiently. This opportunity is ideal for a safety-focused individual who is detail-oriented, takes pride in craftmanship, and experienced using precision tools to maintain and repair industrial equipment.
Working as part of our maintenance team, you'll sharpen, repair, and maintain saws, knives, guides, and related equipment while helping maximize production performance and minimize downtime.
The starting rate for this position is 25.71 per hour, with the potential to grow to 35.11 per hour based on skill and experience. This is a Night Shift position and includes a 1.25 per hour shift differential. Employees are also eligible for a Quarterly Gainshare Bonus based on mill performance.
What You'll Do
- Level and tension saws.
- Sharpen saws.
- Band wheel grinding.
- Operate a variety of sharpening machines and hand tools.
- Check for wear and tear.
- Repair saw blades for sawmill and planer mill according to customer's or manufacturer's specifications, using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment.
- Examine saws for defects.
- Cut broken teeth from saw.
- Braze or weld cracks in saw blades.
- Form teeth on saw blade by beveling joints on grinder and welding or brazing them together.
- Straighten twists and kinks in blades using straightening press and hammer out dents in blade on metal table.
- Adjust cutting width of teeth using swage or special pliers.
- Compute number and angle of teeth to produce specified cut.
- Clamp blade in saw-filing machine and turn hand wheel to adjust distance between teeth, angle of bevel, and depth of cut of file or abrasive wheel.
- Start machine that automatically grinds and files saw teeth.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery.

- Adhere to all safety regulations especially applicable to lockout / tag-out.
- Perform any other work related task deemed necessary by the supervisor.
What You'll Bring
- High School Diploma/Equivalent Preferred.
- Prior manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations experience preferred.
- Precision tool experience preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of hand tools, measuring devices, grinding equipment, and other precision tools.
- Ability to safely handle and maneuver saw blades, knives, guides, and other cutting components.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, rotating equipment, and industrial manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform detailed, precision-oriented work requiring manual dexterity and close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, noise levels, dust conditions, and other manufacturing environments while wearing required PPE.
- Ability to work extended shifts, overtime, weekends, and call-ins as needed.
- Ability to safely perform all duties in accordance with lockout/tagout procedures and other safety standards.
