Job description

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried/Exempt

POSITION TYPE: Full-time (Monday - Friday/8:00 am to 5:00 pm)

REPORTS TO: President/CEO

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Responsible for financial analysis, maintaining accurate accounting records and tax projections and returns, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and control.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee Controller in management of day-to-day operations and training of Accounting Department
  • Develop annual department/company goals and objectives for self and staff
  • Oversee annual CPA review/audit and preparation of Financial Statements
  • Oversee preparation of annul project and corporate tax returns prepared by CPAs
  • Assist CEO with analyses as necessary
  • Assist Land Acquisition Department with land purchase closings, as needed, including review of PSA’s and project budgets and cash flows
  • Responsible for the formation of new project and corporate LLC’s/Corporations including review of entity documents, as needed
  • Review all loan documents and terms of loans. Primary responsibility for providing required reporting in accordance with timelines from the loan documents.
  • Administrate all existing loans with assistance from Controller
  • Oversee check and balance system for all bank accounts and cash activity
  • Primarily responsible for investment of cash assets; corporate and LLC/partnership
  • Responsible for maintaining corporate-level company cash flow
  • Primary check signer for all project and corporate checks
  • Responsible for overseeing all cash needs of Corporate and Project/LLC entities
  • Work with the Controller and/or Project Accountants to determine and resolve any projected funding shortfalls
  • Responsible for overseeing all equity requests and entity/project funding needs
  • Oversee return of equity and profit distribution weekly
  • Oversee the review and approval of monthly project budget/profitability reports
  • Review/monitor calendar of critical monthly, weekly, and daily review dates
  • Assist Human Resources Dept. in the preparation & review of employee bonus calculations
  • Continually monitor systems and software to maximize efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, REQUIRED
  • Certified Public Accountant, REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of CPA and/or private industry experience, REQUIRED
  • Partnership/LLC Accounting experience, REQUIRED
  • Management/Leadership experience REQUIRED
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working in construction/homebuilder industry, preferred
  • Partnership/LLC, Corporation, and personal tax experience, REQUIRED
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail oriented and effective communication skills


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires supervision and leadership of the accounting department which consists of a Controller, Project Accountants and Accounting Assistants
