Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide leadership for K-LOVE financial strategy, operational projects and efficiency, policy and direction while also being a key participant on the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) helping to establish, communicate, and accomplish the ministry's overall vision. The incumbent will lead all financial administration, planning and budgeting and will advise, assist, and serve the CEO, the Board of Directors, and MLT in fulfilling their role, including: (1) development and implementation of organizational financial strategies and strategic planning (2) development of financial plans and economic modeling (3) ) identification, prioritization, and allocation of resources for ministry wide key projects and strategic initiatives (4) increased efficiency, collaboration, communication for business, financial, and operational systems in support of strategic initiatives (5) oversight of all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the ministry (6) leadership of all financial administration, business planning, budget process, operational administration, business planning, and project management. (7) maximizing investment strategies for K-LOVE assets.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively influence our culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, empowerment, innovation, creativity, and service, while being a faithful witness on and off the job of K-LOVE's mission to create compelling media that inspires and encourages our listeners to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.
  • As a member of the MLT, contribute to long term planning and vision implementation through identification of strategic ministry initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving K-LOVE's reputation for integrity and excellence.
  • Engage MLT and as appropriate the Board of Directors on financial issues, trends, and changes in financial models and delivery. Assist in establishing yearly and long-term objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with other departments regarding finance and ministry objectives.
  • Oversee strategic planning and implementation for the Finance and Signal Expansion departments, with a focus on goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration.
  • Assess ministry performance against both annual goals and plans and K-LOVE's long-term strategy. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the CEO and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and developing a highly competent and responsive team, ensuring training, risk management, financial best practices, and biblical conciliation go hand-in-hand with creative and entrepreneurial transactions that will best fulfill the ministry's mission.
  • Ensure alignment of finance initiatives with Ministry objectives.
  • Assess ministry performance against both annual budget and K-LOVE's long-term strategy. Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical financial information to the CEO and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the ministry's strategic plan (especially as the ministry considers potential acquisitions), collaboration with external organizations, and management of investments.
  • Develop and manage forecast models to ensure financial foresight in new ministry initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiate corrective actions; and minimize the impact of variances.
  • Maintain oversight of all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting principles, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal, and local laws regarding company operations.
  • Provide leadership for the functional leaders of the ministry financial staff and the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software. Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operational needs. Optimize banking and treasury relationships including banking, cash management, investments, and debt obligations of the ministry; analyze financial implications of proposed capital projects/expenditures.
  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the ministry's plans and operating budgets.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for donors, MLT, and Board of Directors.
  • Increase ministry's bench strength with development of operational and project management best practices. Ensure strong communication through the implementation of reporting systems on strategic initiatives and key ministry wide projects.
  • Increase operational efficiencies and ministry agility through systems, policies, practices, and behavior reinforcement.
  • Oversight of accounting, treasury, financial planning & analysis, financial modeling, and signal expansion. (Sig-Ex)
  • Positively represent the ministry internally as well as externally. As appropriate, participate in speaking engagements and conferences such as Christian Music Broadcasters and National Religious Broadcasters.
  • Serve as Corporate Treasurer, maintaining appropriate records and assuring compliance with legal requirements. Attend and keep corporate minutes for ministry board meetings as needed. (Appropriate travel required.)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/CMA certification required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of broad finance experience providing strategic and hands-on leadership within a finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting).
  • Experience working as a true business partner to the Chief Executive of a multi-state entity.
  • Non-profit experience highly desired. If coming from the for-profit world, experience serving on a non-profit board desired.
  • Experience working at an Executive Level; proven ability to contribute to global strategic initiatives as well as implementation of relevant cross-departmental goals and objectives, including measurements/metrics and the successful management, mentoring and training of staff.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting a strategic vision into financial models. Skill and experience in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial policies and procedures.
