Job description

Role Title: Corporate Finance Expert

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging Corporate Finance Experts to contribute their expertise on a high-impact customer project. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Design and author complex, realistic finance-manager evaluation tasks that mirror real-world budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis scenarios.
  2. Source, create, and curate authentic supporting artifacts such as budget spreadsheets, forecast models, reconciliations, and technical documentation.
  3. Define accurate solutions accompanied by clear, defensible financial reasoning for each task.
  4. Develop detailed, multi-point rubrics (35+ items) focused on numerical rigor, methodological soundness, and narrative quality for grading AI agent outputs.
  5. Ensure tasks reflect the full sophistication and nuance of true corporate finance practice, avoiding oversimplified or textbook examples.
  6. Communicate findings and rationales clearly and precisely, both in writing and verbally, as part of submission requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 5+ years’ experience with direct ownership of a P&L or significant departmental budget in a corporate finance setting.
  2. Hands-on expertise with month-end and quarter-end close processes, including reconciliation and variance analysis.
  3. Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and management, with a strong track record of producing error-free numerical work.
  4. Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data into actionable financial insights and recommendations.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  6. Corporate finance background strongly preferred over pure accounting specialization.
  7. Relevant certifications (CPA, CFA, FMVA) or an MBA considered a nice to have.

Compensation Structure

Compensation is output-based; experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete work may vary depending on the expert’s experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply. Experts must submit a minimum of tasks per week.

Start Timeline & Availability

We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts ready to jump in right away. If selected, we expect you to start your first tasks within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
