Many remote CFA jobs are found in asset management, investment banking, financial consulting, and fintech industries. Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Business Development Associate based in Netherlands.

This is a high-impact business development role focused on sourcing acquisition opportunities within the vertical software market.
You will identify promising companies, build relationships with owners and senior executives, and create a strong pipeline of potential acquisitions.
The role combines market research, relationship building, outbound business development, opportunity qualification, and M&A collaboration.
You'll engage directly with CEOs, founders, M&A advisors, and private equity and venture capital professionals across the United States.
Success will be measured through qualified opportunities, relationship development, sourcing activity, and ultimately new platform acquisitions.
You'll have significant autonomy while partnering closely with M&A leadership in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially driven professional who enjoys opening doors, influencing decision-makers, and turning relationships into measurable business outcomes.

Accountabilities
  • Identify new markets, industries, and software categories that could generate opportunities for future platform acquisitions.
  • Research target companies and identify owners, CEOs, founders, M&A advisors, and other key decision-makers to engage.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with software executives, investment professionals, and other relevant industry contacts.
  • Develop and communicate a compelling value proposition to prospective acquisition targets and establish meaningful conversations.
  • Take ownership of Salesforce CRM activity, ensuring target accounts, outreach, follow-ups, and opportunities are accurately tracked and prioritized.
  • Establish and apply effective business development workflows, strategies, tools, and best practices to maximize sourcing results.
  • Set and manage quarterly, monthly, and weekly business development targets for yourself and other BD resources.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sourcing KPIs, including discovery conversations, follow-ups, qualified opportunities, and other measurable activities.
  • Qualify opportunities efficiently at the top of the acquisition funnel, ensuring the M&A team remains focused on the most promising prospects.
  • Work autonomously while collaborating closely with M&A leadership to assess and advance potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Help establish KPIs, processes, and accountability mechanisms that improve the effectiveness of the broader business development function.
  • Share proven business development techniques and coach other team members on effective outreach, relationship management, and sourcing practices.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in business development or sales within a software company, or in a client-facing M&A, finance, sales, or account management role.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing at least one completed transaction in a current or previous M&A business development role.
  • Prior experience in an acquisition-focused organization or similar environment is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of fundamental financial and SaaS metrics, including revenue, churn/attrition, gross dollar retention (GDR), COGS, operating expenses, and ARR.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and executive presence to engage CEOs, founders, M&A advisors, corporate development teams, and investment professionals.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to break through barriers and create conversations with hard-to-reach decision-makers.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple relationships, priorities, and follow-ups simultaneously.
  • Exceptional work ethic, proactive mindset, and strong sense of urgency.
  • Comfortable working independently while partnering effectively with senior M&A leadership.
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial environment and define new processes and strategies where needed.
  • Willingness to work variable hours when required by business needs and international stakeholder schedules.
  • Passion for business development and interest in building and scaling a high-performing sourcing function.
  • Previous business development experience in vertical software sectors such as GovTech, LegalTech, Healthcare, Industrial, or Finance is preferred.
  • An MBA, CFA, or similar advanced qualification is an advantage.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
  • Exposure to M&A, software acquisitions, business development, and executive-level relationship building.
  • Opportunity to collaborate with a diverse, globally distributed team.
  • Significant autonomy and ownership within a fast-moving organization.
  • Employer contributions to an RRSP.
  • Opportunity to directly influence the sourcing of future acquisition opportunities and the growth of the business.
