This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Associate Portfolio Manager plays a key role in managing customized equity portfolios designed to maximize tax efficiency while closely tracking client-specific benchmarks and market indexes. Acting as an investment engineer, the Associate Portfolio Manager leverages quantitative research, portfolio optimization tools, and sophisticated trading strategies to construct, monitor, and rebalance portfolios in alignment with client objectives. This role requires a strong analytical mindset and a focus on performance measurement, risk management, cost control, and continuous process improvement within a dynamic investment management environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Construct and manage tax-efficient equity index portfolios for separately managed accounts.
  • Rebalance and transition portfolios to optimize after-tax outcomes while maintaining benchmark alignment.
  • Develop and maintain custom benchmark and portfolio analytics.
  • Monitor index events, corporate actions, and market developments impacting portfolio performance.
  • Analyze portfolio and benchmark returns, including after-tax performance measurement and attribution.
  • Evaluate portfolio risk exposures and support ongoing risk management efforts.
  • Respond to client and internal requests for portfolio analysis, reporting, and investment insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Research, Client Service, Operations, Marketing, and Trading, to support business objectives and enhance the client experience.
  • Contribute to process enhancements, automation initiatives, and technology-driven solutions that improve portfolio management efficiency and scalability.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment management, portfolio management, quantitative analysis, trading, or a related financial services environment; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional certifications. Internal candidates with 2.5+ years of experience at the firm will also be considered.
  • Significant progress toward the CFA designation, MBA, or other relevant investment management or finance credential strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understanding of investment theory, portfolio construction, and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with equity risk models, portfolio optimization techniques, and quantitative investment strategies preferred.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable insights.

Salary range for the position: $70,000 - 140,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
