Job description

CES Consulting, LLC is an engineering and construction management firm focused on quality, safety, compliance, innovation, and value. The firm was founded in 2010 by three professionals passionate about resolving complex construction, time, and cost issues to ensure that transportation and civil infrastructure are safe, durable, and compliant. Over the years, CES expanded its services to include utility management, construction at-risk, and civil engineering services.

We are hiring an Electronic Field Technician for our Intelligent Transportation Systems and Communications Network team based out of Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Regional ITS Manager as an ITS and Communications Technician you will play a pivotal role in the operations of critical traffic control infrastructure by troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining fiber network, CCTV, CMS, Traffic and Weather sensors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose malfunctions and fix failed communication, cameras, digital signs, sensors and other traffic control and surveillance devices.
  • Respond to service calls, monitor network, ensure devices operations, troubleshot systems and keep organized records using computer and other electronics diagnostic tools for testing and performing repairs remotely and in the field.
  • Perform emergency repairs, routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure high system availability and traffic devices functionality for safe and smooth transportation system operations

Education, Certifications, and Experience

The minimum qualifications for this role include the following:

  • Electronic devices troubleshooting skill using computer and other diagnostic tools
  • Comprehension of communications network operations and security with ability to monitor, determine and address root cause failures and vulnerabilities
  • Technical accumbent, strong sense of ownership, work ethics and responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have any of the following:

  • ITS, network, fiber optic, surveillance systems and electric devices installation and maintenance
  • Field experience working independently and with team in the outdoors, next to traffic both in the ground and aerial
  • Resourcefulness and curiosity to learn and problem solve electronic, network, security systems
