What is a Certified Risk Manager?

A Certified Risk Manager (CRM) is a professional who has completed specialized education and training in identifying, analyzing, controlling, financing, and administering risks within an organization. The CRM designation is awarded after successfully completing a series of courses and exams covering key areas of risk management. CRMs typically work in industries such as insurance, finance, and corporate risk management, helping organizations minimize losses and improve their overall risk strategies. This certification demonstrates a high level of expertise and commitment to best practices in risk management.

How does a Certified Risk Manager typically collaborate with other departments to manage organizational risk?

Certified Risk Managers work closely with teams across finance, operations, compliance, and executive leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks. They often lead cross-functional risk assessments and facilitate communication between departments to ensure everyone understands the organization's risk appetite and control measures. Collaboration is key, as risk managers translate complex risk data into actionable strategies that align with overall business objectives. Regular meetings and training sessions are common to keep all teams informed and engaged in proactive risk management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Certified Risk Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Certified Risk Manager, you need expertise in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management, typically supported by a bachelor's degree and a CRM certification. Familiarity with risk management software, data analysis tools, and industry-specific regulatory systems is essential. Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills enable effective collaboration and leadership in identifying and mitigating risks. These competencies are crucial for protecting organizational assets, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic business objectives.

Continuing education and maintaining certification are often required to stay current in the field.

Key Responsibilities Team Execution & Operating Rhythm
  • Own the weekly execution cadence for Education Services
  • Drive clarity on priorities, dependencies, and risks
  • Ensure work is visible, structured, and aligned with business priorities
Training Partner Coordination & Enablement
  • Act as the primary operational interface with authorized training partners
  • Ensure partners are enabled with current content, labs, and certification requirements
  • Coordinate resolution of partner‑impacting issues related to labs, LMS, or content
  • Surface recurring partner issues and drive systemic improvements
Training Delivery & Lab Readiness
  • Partner with lab and infrastructure teams to improve reliability
Content & Lifecycle Ownership
  • Define ownership, review cadence, and update triggers for training content
  • Reduce reactive work through better planning and governance
Sales, Channel & Cross‑Functional Alignment
  • Align education offerings with Sales, Channel, Product, and Engineering teams
  • Improve visibility of education within the sales and partner motion
  • Reinforce education as a business enabler
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to a global team
  • Foster accountability, ownership, and early risk escalation
What Success Looks Like

Within 3–6 months:

  • Partner‑delivered training is more predictable and coordinated
  • Delivery risks are identified earlier and resolved faster
  • Team priorities are clear and stable

Within 12 months:

  • Consistent delivery quality across partners
  • Planned content and lab changes with clear communication
  • Education Services viewed as reliable and business‑aligned

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third‑party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. This position's expected total compensation (base salary and commission range) is $118,200.00–$153,000.00.

The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
