Overview:
Risk Manager
Responsible for the facility/division's risk management activities, which include coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims against the division/facility, interfacing with claims adjusters and defense legal counsel.
Also responsible for coordinating and maintaining a loss control program, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs. Coordinates with division leaders and collaborates with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss. Engages team members to evaluate incidents and conduct investigation provide for appropriate response to claims. Ensures compliance with risk management related laws and regulation to control and minimize losses.
Identifies trends and reviews System reports; conducts loss control audits; and conducts reviews to evaluate patient care quality and to identify possible risk exposures. Participates with select committees related to the assessment of patient care and safety, customer satisfaction and facility issues to assist in providing risk management expertise and direction.
Travel is required for this position, areas of coverage include: Hampton Roads (Williamsburg to Suffolk), Eastern North Carolina
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Masters degree in Business or Health related field preferred Name of Degree (Required)

Certification/Licensure
  • insurance Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP),or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) required within 3 years of hire.
