Risk Manager
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is seeking a Risk Manager to join Capital One's Control Methodology Team. The Risk Manager will have the opportunity to apply their risk management and analytical skills to some of our highest profile Risk Management initiatives, including implementing solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success.
The Risk Manager will play a key role in the ongoing management of our Enterprise Independent Risk Management (IRM) Control Challenge Program. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development of strategic enhancements to other risk management processes. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated risk professional with excellent analytical, process improvement, and communication skills. The Risk Manager will have exposure across both the first and second lines of defense, and the opportunity to work with leadership to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive ongoing adherence to our Independent Risk Management (IRM) Control Challenge methodology, and support IRM Groups by providing guidance and tools
  • Manage the Primary IRM Designee process, partnering with other IRM Groups to establish oversight of controls, as well as provide transparency to Impacted IRM Groups
  • Lead and participate in communication and engagement forums
  • Monitor adherence to the methodology to identify potential training or methodology update needs
  • Monitor progress, and support reporting and analysis of IRM Control Challenge
  • Collaborate internally and with our risk community (e.g. IRM groups, business risk offices, front line process owners) to mature our risk practice methodologies and advance learning
  • Develop practical solutions to improve risk management processes using data and technology
  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in process, program or quality management
  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in process management
  • 3+ years of experience in responding to and interacting with internal audit or regulatory agencies
  • Strong subject matter expertise in controls development, controls management, controls testing, and reporting activities
  • Experience working in an iterative, highly collaborative environment
  • Experience working in the financial services industry
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
