Certified Menopause Practitioner information

What is a certified menopause practitioner?

A Certified Menopause Practitioner is a healthcare professional who has specialized training and certification in managing menopause and related health concerns. They are typically physicians, nurse practitioners, or other qualified clinicians who have completed additional education on menopause, hormone therapy, and women's midlife health. Their role is to assess, diagnose, and provide treatment options for symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, mood changes, and osteoporosis risk. They work closely with patients to develop individualized care plans and offer evidence-based advice on lifestyle, therapy options, and preventive health measures.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a certified menopause practitioner?

To thrive as a Certified Menopause Practitioner, you need in-depth knowledge of women's health, hormonal changes, and menopause management, typically supported by a healthcare degree and certification from organizations like the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs), hormone therapy protocols, and patient education resources is essential. Strong communication, empathy, and critical thinking skills help practitioners support and guide patients through complex health decisions. These competencies are crucial for delivering evidence-based care, improving patient outcomes, and fostering trust during a pivotal stage in women's health.

What are some common challenges faced by certified menopause practitioners when supporting patients through menopause management?

Certified Menopause Practitioners often encounter challenges such as addressing the wide variability in symptoms and responses to treatment among patients, as well as helping individuals navigate stigma or misinformation about menopause. Practitioners must stay current with evolving best practices and tailor treatment plans to each patient's unique health profile and preferences. Collaboration with other healthcare providers, like primary care physicians or endocrinologists, is also key to delivering comprehensive care. Effective communication and empathy are essential to building trust and supporting patients through this significant life transition.

How do you become a certified menopause practitioner?

To become a certified menopause practitioner, individuals typically complete specialized training in menopause management, often through accredited programs or organizations such as the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). They may also need to hold a relevant healthcare license, gain clinical experience, and pass certification exams to demonstrate expertise in menopause care.

Job description

Medi-Weightloss of Chesterfield | Chesterfield, Missouri
24–40 hours/week | Growth-Stage Full-Time Position

Build Your Career in the Future of Women's Health.

Medi-Weightloss of Chesterfield is looking for a Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about women's health, personalized medicine, and helping patients feel their best at every stage of life.

We are a newer, growing medical weight management and wellness clinic in Chesterfield. While medical weight management is an important part of what we do, our practice is expanding into hormone optimization, metabolic health, menopause care, and comprehensive wellness—and we are looking for the right provider to grow with us.

Prior experience in women's health, hormone optimization, menopause care, or obesity medicine is a plus, but it is not required. We are looking for a smart, compassionate, motivated clinician who genuinely wants to develop expertise in these areas.

A Unique Professional Development Opportunity

Women's health and menopause medicine are an important part of the future of our practice, and we are committed to investing in the education and development of the provider who joins our team.

The Nurse Practitioner selected for this position will be expected to work toward becoming a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP)—a nationally recognized credential demonstrating advanced knowledge in menopause and midlife women's health.

MSCP certification will be expected within 12 months of hire, subject to available examination dates.

Medi-Weightloss of Chesterfield will support this goal by providing:

• Paid approved MSCP study materials and resources

• Paid MSCP certification examination

• A structured timeline for preparation and certification

• Clinical education and training in hormone optimization and menopause care

• Ongoing professional development in women's health, metabolic health, obesity medicine, and healthy aging

You do not need to come to us already trained in menopause medicine or hormone optimization.

What we do require is a genuine passion for women's health, a strong desire to learn, and the willingness to invest the time and effort necessary to develop expertise in this field.

If you've been looking for an opportunity to expand your career beyond traditional primary or acute care and develop specialized expertise in perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, metabolic health, and women's healthy aging, we want to help you get there.

What You'll Do

You'll provide personalized, one-on-one medical care across our weight management, hormone optimization, and wellness programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Evaluating and managing patients participating in medically supervised weight-management programs

• Evaluating patients experiencing hormone-related symptoms and managing hormone optimization care according to evidence-based protocols

• Developing expertise in perimenopause, menopause, and women's midlife health

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations

• Ordering, interpreting, and reviewing laboratory studies and diagnostic testing

• Prescribing and managing medications within your scope of practice and applicable Missouri requirements

• Monitoring treatment response, laboratory findings, side effects, and patient progress

• Providing education regarding nutrition, lifestyle, metabolic health, medications, supplements, and preventive wellness

• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation within the EMR

• Collaborating with our clinical team to provide an exceptional, highly personalized patient experience

• Helping us continue to develop and refine our women's health and hormone optimization programs as the clinic grows

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner who is curious, compassionate, self-directed, and excited to grow professionally.

You may already have experience in women's health, obesity medicine, or hormone optimization—or you may have been looking for an opportunity to move your career in that direction.

Either way, you should have:

• An active Missouri Nurse Practitioner license

• Current national Nurse Practitioner certification

• Appropriate prescriptive authority

• A genuine passion for women's health

• A strong commitment to evidence-based medicine

• A desire to continually expand your clinical knowledge

• Willingness to complete training in medical weight management and hormone optimization

• Willingness to study for and pursue Certified Menopause Practitioner (CMP) certification

• The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small clinical team

• An adaptable mindset and comfort working in a growing practice

DEA registration is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Previous experience in women's health, menopause medicine, hormone optimization, obesity medicine, or medical weight management is highly valued but not required.

Grow With Us

We're a small clinic, and we're still establishing ourselves in the Chesterfield community. For the right person, we believe that's one of the most exciting things about this position.

You'll be joining at a stage where you can have a meaningful impact on what we build.

This position will initially be approximately 24 hours per week, with the expectation that it will expand toward 40 hours per week as our patient volume and services grow.

We're looking for someone interested in building a long-term position with us—someone who wants to develop expertise, build relationships with patients, and eventually become an important part of a growing women's health and wellness practice.

What We Offer

• Competitive compensation commensurate with experience

• Initial schedule of approximately 24 hours per week with anticipated growth toward 40 hours

• No call requirements

• Paid insurance credentialing

• Professional development support

• Employer-paid approved CMP study materials and certification examination

• Training in medical weight management and hormone optimization

• IV therapy training/certification

• Employee discounts on eligible clinic products, supplements, injections, and wellness services

• Opportunity to develop specialized expertise in women's health, menopause medicine, metabolic health, and hormone optimization

• Opportunity to help shape a growing women's health service line from an early stage
