Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator B on 2nd shift, in our Bedding Department at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for safely operating machinery and equipment used to manufacture, package, and ship our products to both internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and coordinate with Carpenter Employees of all levels to safely and efficiently meet daily production demands.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform cutting operations according to programs and customer specifications.
  • Perform quality checks on materials to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
  • Unload finished cut foam material and transport to next production area.
  • Maintain communication with line personnel to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Record pertinent information of programs.
  • Place excess trim material in baler. Bale and secure trim material for transport to grinding department.
  • Cross-train to operate other cutting equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Management.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Properly maintain inventory and production documentation.
  • Accurate labeling of all packages in the Bedding and stock areas.
  • Pull labeled material and transport to docks for shipping.
  • Identify and remove raw materials from inventory or receive from proceeding process.
  • Follow Carpenter's safe stacking policy and procedures.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  • Read and interpret a basic tape measure on a daily basis.
  • Inventory control.

Core hours are currently 3:30pm - 12:00am for 2nd shift. We do have mandatory overtime, which is determined by the workflow.

Skills/ Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Prior experience as a machine operator.
  • Forklift operator certification or ability to obtain a company forklift license.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions .
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
