In this role, you will manage and monitor landfill gas collection and destruction systems, conduct site inspections and environmental sampling, and help ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • Manage and oversee landfill gas collection, control, and monitoring systems to support safe and compliant landfill operations
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements related to landfill gas systems and disposal facilities
  • Conduct landfill gas monitoring, system calibrations, field data collection, and performance evaluations
  • Coordinate testing, inspections, and environmental sampling activities, including groundwater, surface water, leachate, and condensate monitoring
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory reports and documentation to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies regarding permits, compliance matters, and regulatory changes
  • Lead, mentor, and support staff involved in landfill gas system operations and maintenance
  • Coordinate repairs, modifications, and ongoing maintenance of landfill gas collection equipment, wells, pumps, and flare systems
  • Assist with budgeting, capital improvement planning, and procurement of materials and services for landfill gas system operations
  • Inspect landfill facilities to identify deficiencies, ensure permit compliance, and support continuous operational improvements
About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week

  • Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • *On-Call Required

About You

To be considered for this role, you MUST have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field AND three (3) years of experience in solid waste operations, landfill gas or an environmental regulatory program or job related work experience

  • -OR- A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in related field AND two (2) years of experience in solid waste operations, landfill gas or an environmental regulatory program or job related work experience

  • -OR- Progressively responsible professional experience (totaling a minimum of seven (7) years) may substitute for the required college degree, at management's discretion

  • Be a Florida Certified Landfill Operator or the ability to obtain a certification within six (6) months from the time of hire

  • A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire

Preferred "BONUS" Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and experience with landfill gas systems, well field monitoring, and surface emission monitoring
  • Familiar with Title V, NSPS, GHG, and other applicable regulations, sampling/monitoring equipment and processes including GEM 5000, FID, gas analyzers and other industry standard equipment, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of flare systems
  • Ability to perform small pipe repair and construction related activities
  • Experience in data management and reporting
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles and systems

Physical Demands: May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.

Starting Pay: $58,947.20 annually, based on experience
