Job Duties
Under the direction of the Direct of Active Lifestyles, the Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for assisting with coordinating, implementing and recording the activities and recreation programming for the residents of the Independent Living areas in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Experience in a social or recreation program, preferably in a CCRC program preferred, event planning and travel.
  • Preferred qualifications would include Resident Activities Director (RAD) Certification or willingness to obtain certification, degree in therapeutic recreation, or NAAP certification.
  • Marketing and social media experience a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills - Microsoft Office, Publisher, Canva.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Activity Coordination and Administrative Support
  • Assists in coordinating and organizing the activity & life enrichment programs of Independent Living in accordance with the vision and mission of St. James Place.
  • Performs administrative functions such as completing necessary forms and reports and submits them to the Director of Active Lifestyles as required.
  • Assists with budget maintenance for the activity program.
  • Assists with maintaining UniGuest for the Life Enrichment/Activities section.
  • Works with transportation to plan travel to resident activities.
  • Communicates regularly with residents to obtain feedback and suggestions.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Activity Program Implementation
  • Assists with scheduling and performing life enrichment activities with the residents.
  • Coordinates staff and volunteers needed in fulfillment of activity events.
  • Evaluates safe work & activity practices & ensures resident safety, security & rights at all times.
  • Visits residents and accesses the need for activities that will fulfill their individual needs.
  • Motivates residents and encourages participation in events and activities.
  • Reports any concerns regarding staffing issues, programming, or resident changes to the Director of Active Lifestyles.
  • Prepares and distributes function sheets to all departments involved with the implementation of activities and events in a timely and accurate manner.

Leadership & Teamwork
  • Develops and maintains a good rapport with all staff to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of activities that coincide with resident needs.
  • Provides training to staff and volunteers as required.
  • Facilitates, attends and participates in various departmental and management meetings as required.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and professional development.

Work Hours
  • May require working long hours or hours outside of the normal work week.
  • MAY BE DESIGNATED ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, INCLUDING HURRICANES, EVACUATION, FIRE, FLOOD, ETC., AND BE REQUIRED TO REMAIN ON CAMPUS FOR THE DURATION OF THE EMERGENCY.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; ability to utilize proper body mechanics. The employee must have the ability to perform essential functions without posing a "direct threat" in the workplace.
