Senior Mechanical Engineer

Questor Technology Inc.

About Questor Technology

Questor Technology Inc. is an international award-winning clean technology company solving the world's biggest environmental emissions problems. Founded on the premise of leaving the world better than we found it, our innovative, patented, ISO-certified technology delivers the most environmentally responsible, cost-effective, and sustainable way for our clients to meet their emissions-reduction targets. Our vision is simple: we are passionate about creating a cleaner, sustainable future for everyone. We believe that together we can create a path to net-zero, create clean power for the communities we serve, and have fun in the process.

Your Role & Impact

Questor is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and manufacturing of our existing incinerator product line and the development of our new product lines. Drawing on a strong oil & gas background, you will bring deep technical expertise to a collaborative work environment where you can contribute to a variety of projects. The position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Success in this role is defined as someone who partners effectively with the Engineering and Operations team, is a critical thinker, is organized, effective at prioritizing, able to manage multiple deliverables, and offers solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, with a desire to continually learn, grow, and contribute to the team.

Your Range of Expertise
  • Deep mechanical engineering expertise grounded in the oil & gas industry; you bring seasoned judgment to design, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Strong project management skills; you are detail-oriented, pragmatic, and able to prioritize, organize, and problem-solve across multiple workloads independently.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for applying your knowledge and expertise to the clean tech energy space.
  • Quick to adapt to new circumstances, with the intuition to think creatively and work through ambiguity.
  • A collaborative team player with a can-do attitude who holds themselves and others to the high standards of quality and accountability Questor expects.
  • A professional, client-focused communicator who facilitates effective dialogue and exercises discretion with confidential information.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the mechanical design of equipment and contribute to the development of new product lines, overseeing drafting and design in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly and engineering drawings for approval and construction.
  • Size, design, and optimize incinerators and related equipment based on client-provided technical information and feedback, producing corresponding design reports.
  • Perform mechanical, thermal, and structural calculations and analyses, with and without analysis software, applying sound engineering principles to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Specify and select equipment, components, and materials, and prepare equipment specifications and datasheets for fabrication.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., CSA B149.3, ASME B31.3, AER Directive 60).
  • Test new designs and develop design reports, specifications, and technical presentations to inform teams, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing product lines and support new product development, root-cause investigations, and design changes to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members and perform engineering reviews and checks of others' work.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical to build, install, and maintain.
  • Manage client interaction and coordinate stakeholders for meetings and project execution.
  • Support fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field, traveling to fabrication shops, field offices, project installations, and client sites worldwide as required.
  • Work safely and meet all site safety requirements; maintain relevant tickets and certifications for worksite access (i.e., H2S Alive, First Aid, etc.) and serve as the senior engineer assigned to specific projects, providing engineering support for field services and operations.
What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Process Engineers with Mechanical Engineering experience will be considered.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience, with a demonstrated oil & gas background.
  • Active P.Eng designation in Alberta (APEGA) required.
  • Experience using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and industry standards (e.g., CSA B149.3, ASME B31.3) and demonstrated ability to apply them to mechanical design.
  • Familiarity with oil & gas, energy, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience with PDM or other drawing-management and revision-control systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and project tracking tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments, travel internationally to project sites, and meet safety requirements for site visits.

Assets

  • P.Eng registration in British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AER Directive 60.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and/or simulation software.
  • Familiarity with Mecastack, AERSCREEN, and Symmetry Process Simulation software.
  • Oil & Gas industry and gas process design experience.
  • After Sales, Field Services, or Operations Support experience.
