This academic-year appointment, with 95% teaching and 5% service, is based at the USU Eastern campus in Price, Utah. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering practical, skills-based instruction that prepares students for entry-level employment as veterinary assistants and supports their progression into further veterinary technology education. This position will also have a secondary appointment in the Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS) to facilitate cross-department coordination between the Veterinary Assisting certificate program and the Veterinary Technology AS degree program.

- Coordinate veterinary assisting course schedules, laboratory activities, equipment, supplies, animals, and instructional spaces in collaboration with program staff and university partners.
- Collaborate with the ADVS DVM faculty member to obtain veterinary expertise and instructional assistance for Veterinary Assisting courses when needed, particularly for content or procedures requiring veterinarian oversight or specialized clinical knowledge.
- Provide occasional instructional support for the Veterinary Technology A.S. program in Price, as needed and in coordination with the ADVS DVM faculty member and Veterinary Technology program leadership.
- Support hands-on laboratory and clinical instruction for Veterinary Technology students in areas aligned with the lecturer's qualifications and professional experience.
- Supervise and assess students during laboratory, clinical, and experiential learning activities, with attention to student safety, animal welfare, professional conduct, and development of entry-level occupational skills.
- Assist with maintaining instructional laboratories and clinical teaching spaces, including compliance with applicable safety, sanitation, biosecurity, and animal care requirements.
- Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, student advising, recruitment, and other activities that support the continued development of USU's veterinary education programs.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with veterinary practices, animal care organizations, and other community partners that may support student learning, clinical experiences, and employment opportunities.
- Participate in departmental, campus, and university service appropriate to the position.
- Contribute to the program's accreditation efforts, including preparation for initial accreditation, documentation of compliance with accreditation standards, assessment of student outcomes, and the ongoing work required to maintain accreditation once achieved.
