Job Type: Temporary (21-Week Assignment)
Pay Rate: $39-41/hour
Location: Suffern, NY | On-site (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm)

Job Overview
Madison Approach Staffing is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to support our client's Finance department. Our client is a large healthcare organization seeking an experienced accountant to maintain books and records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and prepare financial statements from the organization's statistical and financial data. This role prepares monthly and annual financial statements, manages the general ledger, books journal entries, analyzes budget variances, and participates in month-end close processes. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of accounting experience with strong financial analysis skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and ability to work with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Statements & Month-End Close:
  • Prepare and review analysis of multiple monthly and annual financial statements within preset timeframes
  • Participate in month-end financial close review meetings
  • Maintain accurate and timely general ledger and balance sheet audit worksheets
  • Book monthly journal entries including recurring and non-routine entries, accruals, and prepaid analysis
  • Ensure integrity of all general ledger accounts including Joint Ventures
Budget & Analysis:
  • Assist in annual budget preparation
  • Analyze monthly expense and FTE budget variances
  • Provide financial analysis to support management decision-making
Asset & Liability Management:
  • Monitor capital leases and all debt obligations
  • Reconcile related long-term and short-term liability accounts
  • Prepare and update monthly schedules of Property, Plant & Equipment acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation calculations
Cash Management & Reporting:
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts and disbursements to General Ledger and bank support
  • Prepare weekly cash disbursement outflow reports
  • Assist with other treasury-related functions
Systems & Process Management:
  • Monitor and maintain key data, tables, and interfaces for financial information systems
  • Recommend and develop processes for streamlining financial operations
  • Refer unresolved matters to management as appropriate
Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Experience: 3-5 years accounting experience; healthcare setting preferred but not required
  • GAAP Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Financial Analysis: Strong financial analysis skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Advanced Excel: Complex Excel skills required including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas
  • Technology: Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Power BI
  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in financial record-keeping and analysis
  • Audit Skills: Experience maintaining audit worksheets and supporting audit processes
