The Position


Ohmite is currently searching for a Ceramics Engineer, specializing in ceramic materials, high-temperature systems, and manufacturing processes related to advanced ceramic components. The ideal candidate will have experience working with engineered ceramics in applications such as thermal management, resistive heating, power electronics, or structural insulating materials.


As a results-oriented Ceramics Engineer, you will become an integral member of our team, collaborating with other engineering disciplines to develop new products and assist in customer inquiries. With your passion, talent, and expertise, you will help create ceramic-based products that support technologies critical to the economy of the future.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and qualification of ceramic formulations, substrates, and components integrated into Ohmite’s high-power resistor products.
    • Work closely with a cross-functional engineering team to develop new product platforms and improve existing ceramic-based technologies.
    • Interface with all levels within the organization (Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Production, Testing) to understand application requirements and develop best-in-class ceramic solutions.
    • Ensure that high standards of material reliability, manufacturability, dimensional quality, and thermal performance are adhered to throughout all stages of product development.
    • Support prototype fabrication, design validation, and pilot production to ensure timely and successful completion of projects.
    • Collaborate with marketing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to bring ceramic concepts to life, including trials, material evaluations, and performance mock-ups.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related field

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience with technical ceramics, ceramic manufacturing processes, or thermal management materials
    • Experience in testing, characterizing, and processing ceramic systems, including sintering, forming, coatings, and structural analysis
    • Comprehensive understanding of material properties, including thermal conductivity, dielectric strength, mechanical strength, and microstructure
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively
    • Passion for conceiving, developing, and refining innovative material solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to identify product or process challenges and apply creative problem-solving to deliver results
