Job description

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $75,000.

Nature and Scope

  • Participating in team-based safety teams and learning safe operating practices.
  • Responsible for learning the Programmable Logic Controller software and hardware.
  • Responsible for learning to program the Human Machine Interface (HMI), work closely with the Production team to perfect trends, reporting, control, alarms, and displays.
  • Responsible for learning the plant networks, ensuring proper utilization and reliability.
  • Learn the plant WEB server.
  • Become responsible for plant computers and other components of the business network.
  • Participates in the improvement of the Plant’s technical capabilities through optimizing automation including high level control systems.

Specific Accountabilities

    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with maintenance of PLC systems.
    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with maintenance of plant control computers.
    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with maintenance of plant supervisor controls.
    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with maintenance of plant network systems including company computers.
    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with tuning PID loops.
    • Promote new upgrades and features to assist plant performance.
    • Work closely with the Electrical/Instrument Supervisor maintaining plant optimization.
    • Assist the Automation Coordinator with establishing and maintaining inventory levels of spare parts.
    • Create and maintain a working relationship with internal customers.
    • Ensure conformance with Automation, IT, and corporation guidelines.
    • Must be able to operate PC’s, operation and process computers.
    • Learn the operation of kiln, raw mill and finish mill systems.
    • Work closely with the Process Engineer(s) to learn the plant equipment, its functionality and enhance the control of main equipment to optimize plant performance.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of an associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in process systems in the cement manufacturing or related field.
    • Must be able to work as a part of a team to ensure continuous improvement in their functional area as well as the overall plant operations.
    • Must be able to meet on-call responsibilities in a 24/7 operation once all development criteria is met.
