Job Summary

The Manager of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for leading a team of enterprise architects, domain architects, solutions architects, and platform architects to define and implement the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and governance. This role oversees the development of architectural blueprints and ensures alignment with business objectives and technology standards. The manager will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to facilitate collaboration and innovation, ensuring that architectural practices are consistent and effective.

Essential Functions
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of architects, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. 
  • Serve as a bridge between enterprise, domain, platform, and solution architects to ensure alignment with the enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, emphasizing cloud solutions, applications, data, and security. 
  • Establish and enforce architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all technology implementations.
  • Lead architectural reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, governance standards, and enterprise policies. 
  • Manage the Architecture Review Board (ARB), Technical Integration Reviews (TIR), deviation reviews, solution walkthroughs, and other governance structures to oversee architectural compliance, including timely escalations and leadership reporting.
  • Identify emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the enterprise technology landscape and roadmap.
  •  Drive the innovation process and support the development of minimum viable products (MVPs) to demonstrate value to stakeholders.
  • Communicate strategic themes and key business drivers for architecture to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to gather requirements and ensure alignment with the broader enterprise architecture landscape.
Essential Functions Cont'd
  • Develop and document comprehensive standards for architects to refer to, covering all domains of data, cloud/infrastructure, applications/integrations, business architecture, and security. 
  • Maintain and manage enterprise architecture tools and repositories, with emphasis on Ardoq for reference architectures and L0/L1 modeling, plus ServiceNow integration for data quality and governance tracking.
  • Drive the Architecture Community of Practice to promote thought leadership, industry trends, and best practices within the enterprise.
  • Lead integration strategy efforts, including vendor assessment and selection, as-is workshops, and ongoing platform support.
  • Oversee financial management of EA consultants and initiatives, including WBS code tracking, Beeline maintenance, invoice processing, managed service options review, budgeting, and back-charging of governance work.
  • Develop and advance the EA roadmap (aligned with studies such as PWC), EA Playbook, maturity models, and key deliverables including current and future state architecture reports.
  • Build organizational capability through EA competency framework development and tracking, goal setting, intern program management, and development of deputies across the architecture team.
  • Drive operational rhythms such as DOR meetings, daily updates, and governance forum participation to ensure visibility and alignment.
Education Description
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 10 years in an enterprise architecture role.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing architectural practices.
  • Extensive expertise in enterprise architecture best practices, guiding principles, governance, and standards.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise architecture tools, specifically Ardoq (or equivalent) for reference architectures and modeling, plus familiarity with ServiceNow for data integration and quality.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure DevOps (or equivalent) for work tracking, user-story-level commitment management, sprint planning, reporting, capacity/allocation flagging, and tool optimization/migration.
  • Experience leading architecture governance processes including ARB, TIR, deviation reviews, and solution walkthroughs.
  • Proven track record delivering EA roadmaps, playbooks, current/future state models, and governance process documents.
  • Experience managing financial and resource aspects of EA consultants (charge codes, budgeting, invoicing, managed services).
  • Experience building team capability through competency frameworks, goal setting/tracking, and intern or junior staff development programs
  • Certification in TOGAF standards and hands-on experience in applying these principles.
