Job Summary:
The Precision Grinder operates precision grinding machines to product parts according to established blueprint and engineering specifications.
Essential Functions:
  • Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation
  • Measure work pieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devices
  • Select machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements
  • Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences
  • Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, centers, or other tool holding devices, as well as using hand tools
  • Activate machine start-up switches to grind or cut work pieces, according to specifications
  • Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers, holding tolerances of +/- .001 to .00002 on Inside Diameter (I.D) & Outside Diameter (O.D), and checking parts to Blue Print requirements
  • Lift and position work pieces, manually on machine tables, faceplates, or chucks, using clamps
  • Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, or polish metal or plastic work pieces
  • Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make any necessary adjustments to correct problems
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in centerless grinding.
  • Knowledge:Working knowledge as a Precision Grinder in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience working with Cincinnati centerless grinding machine (manual) is highly preferred.
  • Skills/Abilities: Centerless, and Inside Diameter/Outside Diameter grinding.
  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • Precision Grinder Level I: $29.39 to $37.29 per hourly base rate
  • Precision Grinder Level II: $36.28 to $46.89 per hourly base rate

Second shift openings are eligible for a 10% shift differential. If your employment begins with training on First shift, you will be paid your hourly base rate. The 10% shift differential will be added to the hourly base rate once training on First shift has been successfully completed and transition to the Second shift schedule.
