Location: Roseburg, Oregon
Position Type: Locum | Physician - Pediatric Hospitalist
Overview
A hospital-based Pediatric Hospitalist locum opportunity providing 24-hour call coverage for inpatient pediatrics, newborn care, and ED consults. This role supports a Level II nursery with additional duties in the Family Birth Center. Ongoing coverage is needed until a full-time provider is hired.
Practice Highlights
• Dates:
- 1/30: 4-hour AM orientation
- 2/2 (AM) - 2/8 (AM)
- Ongoing coverage into 2026
• Schedule: 24-hour call (7 AM - 7 AM) with 8 hrs of rounding
• Setting: Level II Nursery, Level I Nursery, ED, Family Birth Center
• Average callback: 8.44 hours weekdays, 6.49 hours weekends
• EMR: PatientKeeper (interfaced with Meditech)
• Duties: Inpatient peds attending, newborn rounding, ED consults, stabilization & transfer of critical patients
• Not required to attend deliveries; evaluate/treat newborns afterward
• Average census:
- 4-6 newborns/day
- 0-1 pediatric patient/day
- 6-bed peds unit; avg. census ~2/day
Candidate Requirements
• Board Certified / Board Eligible Pediatrician - REQUIRED
• Must have performed at least 2 of each in the last 24 months:
- Endotracheal intubation / vent management
- Neonatal cases
- Spinal tap / lumbar puncture
- Umbilical line placement
• Must be able to perform IVIG - REQUIRED
• Experience in Level II nursery strongly preferred
• Please ensure clinical activity is included in the CV
• Circumcisions not required / not performed at this site
Schedule & Coverage
• 24-hr call: 7 AM - 7 AM
• In-house clinical care averages 5-6 hours/day depending on census
• 15-minute in-person response for neonatal emergencies
• ED consults and admissions have more flexible response times
