Key Responsibilities
Report to work at Granite City, IL M-F 7:00am 3:30pm
Operate Machinery and Equipment
- Set up, operate, and monitor machines involved in food production.
- Adjust machine settings for speed, temperature, and ingredient mix levels.
- Operate a forklift to move raw materials, packaging, and finished products.
Production Monitoring
- Observe production lines to ensure product quality and consistency.
Quality Control
- Perform regular quality checks (e.g., weight, appearance).
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
Ingredient Handling
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or batch records.
- Load raw materials into production equipment.
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean equipment and work areas in accordance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Follow scheduled cleaning protocols to avoid contamination.
Packaging and Labeling
- Operate packaging machines and label products correctly.
Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate production and quality control records.
- Complete logs and reports for traceability and regulatory compliance.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate with supervisors and team members to coordinate workflow.
- Assist in training new operators or temporary staff.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- High school degree, or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to pass a drug test to operate heavy machinery
- Must be able to pass a respirator fitness test and maintain that fitness
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and work in environments where food-grade and chemical products are handled
- Maintain valid drivers license
- Capable of being trained to operate equipment, like a forklift, and follow procedures accurately and safely in a timely manner
- Capable of being trained to complete required paperwork associated with job functions
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs, repeatedly
- Capable of walking up and down stairs and ladders unassisted
- Cannot be legally blind
- Prior experience a plus

Notice for Food Operator Applicants
Due to work with Hazardous Materials and FDA regulated ingredients and products, Celta must restrict access to the warehouse and products to reduce risk of terrorism, fraud and intentional adulteration of food-related products. Criminal Background checks will be performed on all new hires to check applicants criminal history, mental health, immigration status, and presence on watchlists before authorizing them to work with Hazmat and food production. This may include prior work history, criminal checks of county, metro, state and federal records going back up to 7 years and FACIS level 1M screening. Celta employees must not have any disqualifying criminal convictions specified in 49 CFR, Part 1572 1572.103., are legally authorized to work in the U.S., and do not appear on any global sanctions watchlists. To operate heavy machinery safely, applicants must be able to pass a drug test.
