Meter Mechanic is responsible for turning utilities back on after construction. Basic gas pipe assembly and configuration along with knowledge on how to relight household and commercial appliances would allow us to fast-track any applicant to becoming a standalone mechanic. PPS is seeking individuals who have experience in handling light tooling such as pipe wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and adjustable wrenches. Experience in plumbing or HVAC is a serious plus.

  • Effective Communication Skills and ability to speak professionally and clearly to customers
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
  • Pass and retain Operation Qualifications as set forth by standards employment is contingent on the passing of Operator Qualifications during training
  • If any required OQ is failed upon requalification, the employee will be responsible to schedule training and testing which will be on their own time. In addition, the current pay rate will be decreased until all required OQs are obtained
  • Possibility for internal growth, after successfully completing their initial training, qualified mechanics will have the opportunity to volunteer for A mechanic training (1st Responder).

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required. Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations set forth by PPS
