Job description


Bio-pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of small-molecule immune modulators for the treatment of cancers, inflammation and autoimmune diseases, has an opening for a Principal Scientist at its Ann Arbor, Michigan site. The successful candidates will enjoy working in a fast paced, collaborative environment and be skilled at designing and conducting experiments, data presentation and leading/managing project teams to achieve goals.
Responsibilities
  • Independently design and execute experiments using cutting-edge technologies in the field of immunology and immuno-oncology to support drug discovery and elucidate mechanisms of action of key compounds
  • Lead research efforts to develop and implement novel assays for compound characterization, PK/PD and biomarker development
  • Interact closely with medicinal chemists to provide biology expertise and support as the biology lead of a drug discovery project team
  • Actively and openly participate in research discussions and reviews

Qualifications:
  • PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology or a related field with 9+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry research experience in autoimmune, inflammation or immune-oncology therapeutic areas
  • Outstanding laboratory skills. Must have extensive research experience on immune cells and a proven track record of scientific success
  • Possess a high level of critical thinking, a can-do spirit, a strong desire to learn new areas and the ability to conduct independent research and lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment
  • Excellent communication skills
