What are some common challenges faced by celestial navigation officers when working on long voyages?

Celestial navigation officers often face challenges such as maintaining accurate readings under varying weather conditions, integrating traditional navigation methods with modern technology, and ensuring precise timekeeping for calculations. They must also adapt quickly to changes in visibility and coordinate closely with the ship's crew to update routes based on real-time observations. Successful officers develop strong problem-solving skills and resilience to handle these dynamic conditions, contributing to safe and efficient voyages.
