CERTIFICATION:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Special Education Certification in at least one area of disability (CI, EI, LD, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Skills/experience teaching students with disabilities in the general education environment
  • Skills/experience in setting up effective classroom management systems
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Academic Standards
  • Experience with and knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies
  • Experience with and knowledge of the exceptional learner
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching to Extended Common Core State Standards - Levels of Complexity
  • Understanding of assessment methods including: progress monitoring, curriculum based measurement, and formative assessment
  • Experience working with students with Cognitive Impairments preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide instruction in the core curriculum, transition/life skills, and social skills per the IEP
  • Support the independence of students with physical and health needs
  • Work cooperatively with general education and other special education staff to provide successful programming and meet individual needs
  • Provide support to all middle school instructional settings
  • Collect data on student achievement and develop instructional programming
  • Complete, document, and facilitate IEPs consistent with district, state, and federal laws and guidelines
  • Champion and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Perform Essential Job Functions as listed for this position
