Company Overview

Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 tea members company-wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

The Warehouse CDL Manager will oversee and coordinate the entire warehouse operations.

Hours and Wages

  • Exempt salary position
  • Starting wage: $70,000 - $92,500 based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including scheduling, monitoring warehouse staff, attendance, performance and operation productivity
  • Plan and organize daily activities related to production and operations
  • Measure productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Identify, recommend and implement measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, work methods, and safety
  • Ensure trailer cuts and after-hours pick-ups are completed for timely delivery to other branches
  • Enforce safety, DOT, and company policies
  • Handle and participate in investigating employee concerns
  • Manage security of the yard and building
  • Identify and escalate all operational concerns to appropriate management
  • Determine labor needs to meet production goals
  • Hire, train, discipline, and onboard new staff
  • Hold weekly meetings to communicate goals and assignments
  • Forecast peak delivery periods and issue appropriate work assignments
  • Streamline logistics for cost-effectiveness and efficiency in warehouse operations
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality guidelines
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage and coordinate a variety of shipping methods

  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies

Education and Experience

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field preferred
  • Must hold or obtain a valid forklift certification
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program
  • 3+ years of experience in distribution or transportation industry preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, carry, and slide freight in the warehouse
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
