As a Driver Recruiter you will have the opportunity to source, screen, qualify, and onboard CDL drivers for Leggett & Platt's logistics operations.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by serving as a subject matter expert for CDL driver recruiting practices.  The Driver Recruiter will work closely with Safety, Compliance, Operations, and Human Resources throughout the hiring process.

So, what will you be doing as a Driver Recruiter?

  • Recruit qualified CDL drivers through multiple sourcing channels including job boards, referrals, social media, industry associations, driving schools, and networking opportunities
  • Conduct applicant screening and preliminary qualification reviews to determine eligibility for employment
  • Evaluate driver experience, employment history, and qualification documentation
  • Coordinate employment verifications, motor vehicle record reviews, background screening, and pre-employment requirements
  • Maintain applicant tracking systems "Ten Street" and recruiting records
  • Develop and maintain relationships with driver schools, industry organizations, and recruiting partners
  • Partner with Operations, Safety, and Compliance teams to support driver onboarding and retention efforts
  • Monitor recruiting metrics and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, hiring trends, and staffing needs
  • Support hiring events, job fairs, and recruiting campaigns as needed
  • Assist in the development and implementation of recruiting strategies for difficult to fill transportation positions

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Candidates with relevant transportation, logistics, or recruiting experience are strongly encouraged to apply and may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum three years of experience in trucking operations, transportation management, dispatch, logistics, safety, compliance, driver management, or a related transportation field
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and commercial driver qualification requirements
  • Experience supporting or participating in CDL driver hiring, screening, onboarding, dispatching, fleet operations, safety, or compliance activities
  • Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems, recruiting software, or similar platforms
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

Things we consider a plus:

  • Three or more years of CDL driver recruiting experience
  • Experience recruiting Class A CDL drivers
  • Experience in trucking operations, dispatch, fleet management, transportation safety, DOT compliance, driver management, or related transportation roles
  • Knowledge of FMCSA driver qualification requirements, medical certification standards, and DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Experience reviewing motor vehicle records, PSP reports, Clearinghouse records, and driver qualification documentation
  • Experience developing recruiting strategies for difficult to fill transportation positions
  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial motor vehicle operations and the challenges associated with recruiting and retaining qualified CDL drivers
