The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) is a statewide museum system with 12 locations, including a central museum based in Indianapolis. Role Overview

Celebration Crossing (CCX) Specialists work within the Celebration Crossing holiday experience to engage and interact with visitors, assist with facilitation of Celebration Crossing programming, respond to visitor questions and concerns, and monitor experience components. The CCX Specialist will enhance visitor experience through multiple positions including Santa’s House Photographer, Santa House Manager, Santa’s Front Yard Facilitator, Snowfall Express Line Facilitator, and Snowfall Express Conductor*. 


Salary Statement

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.73 but may be commensurate with education and work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Enhance the visitor experience in Celebration Crossing by engaging and interacting with visitors, assisting with visitor questions and concerns, and facilitating daily programs.
  • Implement scheduled and spontaneous activities and programs within Celebration Crossing for diverse audiences including children, families, and adults.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting each visitor, answering questions, and being present within the space.
  • Work with and assist museum volunteers as needed.
  • Facilitate Celebration Crossing experiences and monitor interactive components and manipulatives. 
  • Communicate visitor issues and concerns to security and other staff as appropriate.
  • Support Visitor Services in providing a welcoming and festive environment for all museum visitors.
  • Sanitize exhibit and public spaces daily

What You'll Need for Success:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; current high school junior or senior welcome to apply.
  • Background in education, theater, and/or customer service preferred.
  • Must have experience in customer service or hospitality industries.
  • Must be comfortable working independently and exhibit initiative.
  • Good communication skills, enthusiasm and collaborative work ethic required.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
