Job Summary

The Security and Safety Operations Specialist will track and monitor potential or actual safety and security events around the Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) operation. The Security and Safety Operations Specialist will monitor all accessible CCTV Systems across North American WFS network from the centrally located SOC located and John F Kennedy International Airport.  The Security and Safety Operations Specialist monitors multiple CCTV displays for suspicious, unusual, or hazardous activities.  The Security and Safety Operations Specialist will ensure all appropriate actions and notification(s) are completed to mitigate any observed security and/or safety incidents to execute emergency SOC protocols as appropriate.  

They will be charged with documenting detailed records, logs and all required written reports as indicated in the SOC Standard Operating Procedures of activities as they occur during the shift and effectively report all appropriate emergency and non-emergency situations in real-time to the SOC Leader. The Security and Safety Operations Specialist will also monitor both domestic and worldwide security events that could impact WFS operations. This would include but is not limited to Nation-State conflicts, civil unrest, and political instability.  The Security and Safety Operations Specialist will demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and agility to easily flex between tasks as they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform specific responsibilities related to your shift.
  • All responsibilities pertaining to the JD for SOC operators, in addition the following responsibilities are included in the SOC function
  • Assumes PULSE input guidance to field after initial event creation. Diagnose events related to Safety, Security, Health, operational and Environmental events
  • Triage initial report in PULSE and garner whatever data is presented from the station and request whatever missing data.
  • Works with Security team in establishing severity rating and updates PULSE. Update PULSE record accordingly and ensure notification is sent.
  • Clears all events in analysis stage for all delinquent reports. Alerts regional leadership of any lagging or delinquent stations.
  • Monitor and man SOC/PIC hotline desk when stations call for PULSE support to include sign on issues, input criteria to complete investigations in PULSE and other administrative PULSE concerns.
  • Assist RSM's when needed in inputting action plans pertinent to respective incident.
  • Issue guidance to operations on next PULSE steps
  • Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
Minimum Requirements
  • Two to five years of experience in security. Additional skills in investigative work, CCTV or risk-management desired.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills required.
  • College degree, military service or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with personal computer software helpful.
  • Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays and days off.
  • Ability to read, writes, fluently speak and understand the English language.
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret WFS Security Operation Procedures, CCTV technical application procedures, governmental regulations, airline policy and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondences.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from local management, managers, and executives.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.
  • Ability to operate equipment and hold necessary licensing (if applicable).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Walk short distances.
  • Reach above and/or below shoulder.
  • Handle/grasp documents or office equipment.
  • Sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time.
  • Lift/carry/move objects, files and documents up to 10 pounds.
  • Work in an office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
