The Position
Shermco Systems Integration is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician, which will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and electrical systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of industrial equipment. This motivated team player would ideally possess solid knowledge of automated control systems, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, control valves, and electrical construction in an industrial setting. Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Read, interpret, and understand P&ID's, loop drawings, installation details, layout drawings and other drawings & documents typically associated with construction packages.
  • Complete assigned tasks in accordance with construction project specifications.
  • Mechanical and Electrical installation of control panels and instrumentation.
  • Rigid, EMT, PVC coated rigid conduit.
  • Service, feeders, and branch circuits.
  • Controls, fiber, and network cabling.
  • Stainless tubing and instrumentation.
  • Service equipment, MCC, panelboards
  • Field wiring of control panels and instrumentation
  • Installation, calibration, and commissioning of pressure, flow, level, temperature and analytical instruments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolution of issues associated with instrumentation, control valves, process controllers, PLC hardware and control systems.
  • Assist in repair, testing, and installation of control panels, PLC's, I/O modules and communications equipment.
  • Establish/Maintain behaviors that demonstrate Safety as a Personal Core Value.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and safety requirements and protocols.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician license is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Two-year Associate's degree in Automation & Controls, Instrumentation, or similar technical program highly preferred.
  • 2+ years industrial electrical power and controls field experience preferred
  • Ability to work safely, and an eagerness to contribute to a safety-focused team.
  • ISA CCST certification preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and be hands-on, working in the field alongside our engineers and field technicians.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
  • Self-motivated individual, ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment, flexible and willing to assist in other technical disciplines.
  • Exposure to (and familiarity with) field instruments, electronic test equipment, control valves, control panels.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools, ladders, manlifts, etc.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work out-of-town with regular overnight travel

Other Requirements:
  • Strong preference for individuals who are able and willing to demonstrate their personal commitment to Safety.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and currently have (and be able to maintain) a good driving record.
