Edge Systems Network Engineer
The Opportunity:
A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable the Air Force to achieve their missions, but how can an organization make sure their network will fit their evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and software, requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. That's why we need a seasoned network engineer like you who knows how to develop the exact network our Air Force and warfighters need.
As a network engineer on our team, you'll use your experience in deep design to architect the networks beneath next-generation Command and Control (C2) systems, from enterprise cores out to the tactical edge, where links are contested and bandwidth is never a given to support the nation's defense and respond to evolving adversaries. You'll design end to end, including routing and switching architectures, SD-WAN overlays, and the network security that protects mission traffic, and increase security, reliability, and availability for mission-critical network systems.
You'll apply your expertise in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, virtual routing, and forwarding as you guide our team of problem-solvers to help the DoD evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies.
Your knowledge of emerging technology and configurations will come in handy as you optimize client operations and modernization. Using your experience in Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Limited-bandwidth (DDIL) and disconnected edge environments where the network has to degrade gracefully and recover on its own, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients on mission-critical projects. Using your technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you'll make an impact on national security missions.
Advance your career with us as we help exceed technical leadership expectations. You'll set the patterns the rest of the team builds on.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • Experience in routing and switching, including complex multi-site and enterprise-to-edge architectures
  • Experience designing and deploying SD-WAN and overlay or transport-agnostic networks
  • Experience with network security design, including segmentation, firewalls, encryption, and defense-in-depth
  • Experience engineering edge and tactical computing networks for DDIL and disconnected operations
  • Ability to translate mission and reliability requirements into resilient network designs that degrade gracefully
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering and 8+ years of experience in network engineering, including design and architecture, or 12+ years of experience in network engineering, including design and architecture, in lieu of a degree
  • CCNP Certification
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Security+ CE Certification

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience designing and operating tactical DoD networks and their operational constraints
  • Experience with 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) for tactical or expeditionary use
  • Experience with satellite communications (SATCOM) and RF transport in contested environments
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust architectures at the edge, including micro-segmentation, identity-based access, and mTLS
  • Experience with C2, ISR, or other mission-critical DoD systems
  • Experience with network automation and IaC, including Ansible, Python, or NetDevOps practices
  • Experience with network observability and performance monitoring across degraded links
  • Secret clearance
  • CCIE Certification

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
