Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

School of Information Technology - Adjunct Faculty Credentials:

A qualified adjunct faculty member meets one of the following routes:

Master's Degree (in-field) - Holds an earned master's or higher from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, information systems, computer science, cybersecurity, software development, cloud technologies, data analytics, or a closely related field; or Master's Degree (out-of-field + graduate IT coursework) - Holds an earned master's degree in another discipline with 18 graduate semester hours (or equivalent) of IT-related coursework beyond the introductory level; or Master's Degree (out-of-field + professional documentation) - Holds an earned master's degree in another discipline and demonstrates two or more of the following:
Professional certification(s) (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+/Cloud+, AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect Associate, Microsoft Azure, CCNA, Linux+, etc.)
Two years of directly related professional employment in IT
Documented evidence of teaching excellence (with date of award)
Documented research or publication in the field
Additional post-baccalaureate subject-matter training (e.g., 18 semester hours, CEUs, vendor, or military training); or Bachelor's Degree (discipline-aligned + professional documentation) - Holds an earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in IT, IS, CS, cybersecurity, software, cloud, data, or a closely related field and demonstrates two or more of the following:
Professional certification(s) (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+/Cloud+, AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect Associate, Microsoft Azure, CCNA, Linux+, etc.)
Two years of directly related professional employment in IT
Documented evidence of teaching excellence (with date of award)
