What is a Ccie Security job?

A CCIE Security job involves designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex security solutions for enterprise networks. Professionals in this role are responsible for securing network infrastructure, mitigating cyber threats, and ensuring compliance with security policies. They typically work with advanced security technologies, such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention systems, and identity management solutions. CCIE Security certification validates expertise in these areas and is often required for senior network security positions.

Can you get a job with just CompTIA Security+?

The CCIE Security role typically requires advanced skills in network security, firewalls, and intrusion prevention, often supported by certifications like Cisco CCIE. While CompTIA Security+ demonstrates foundational security knowledge, it usually is not sufficient alone for a CCIE Security position, which demands extensive experience and specialized certifications. Employers often look for a combination of certifications, hands-on experience, and technical expertise for such roles.

Can you make $500,000 a year in cyber security?

A cybersecurity professional with the CCIE Security certification can potentially earn $500,000 annually, especially in senior roles, management, or consulting positions in high-demand markets. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and often leadership responsibilities or specialized expertise in areas like threat management or security architecture.

Can you make $200,000 in cyber security?

A CCIE Security professional can potentially earn $200,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced certifications, and working in high-demand environments such as large enterprises or consulting firms. Salary levels depend on factors like location, specialization, and job responsibilities, with senior roles and those involving management or specialized skills often commanding higher pay.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ccie Security position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CCIE Security professional, you need in-depth expertise in network and information security, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to design and implement complex security solutions, all validated by the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Security certification. Familiarity with Cisco security technologies such as ASA firewalls, VPNs, ISE, Firepower, and network access controls is essential, as well as hands-on experience with security monitoring and incident response tools. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication are critical soft skills for success in this role. These qualifications are vital to ensure robust network protection, effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, and optimal responses to evolving security threats.

How much does a CCIE security employee make in the US?

A CCIE Security professional in the US typically earns between $100,000 and $160,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and employer. Advanced certifications like CCIE often lead to higher salaries and roles involving complex network security tasks and Cisco security tools.

What are some typical challenges faced by CCIE Security professionals in their roles?

CCIE Security professionals often face the challenge of keeping up with rapidly evolving cyber threats and implementing cutting-edge solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities. They are frequently tasked with designing or troubleshooting highly complex, large-scale network environments while ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with stringent security policies. Collaboration with network engineers, IT support, and leadership teams is common, especially when responding to incidents or conducting security audits. These challenges make the role intellectually stimulating and offer substantial opportunities for professional growth and specialization in advanced network security.

Job description

As a Network Security Architect, you will be the visionary and lead designer for our secure network infrastructure. You will design, build, and oversee the implementation of security systems that protect our nationwide ISP backbone, data centers, and customer-facing services. This role requires a deep understanding of BGP security, DDoS mitigation at scale, and the integration of security into high-throughput transport networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design: Develop and maintain the security blueprint for the ISP core, edge, and access networks.

  • DDoS Mitigation: Design and optimize multi-layered DDoS protection strategies using scrubbing centers, flow-based monitoring (NetFlow/SFlow), and RTBH (Remote Triggered Black Hole) filtering.

  • Infrastructure Security: Hardening of critical network elements (routers, switches, OLTs) and implementing robust AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) frameworks.

  • BGP & Routing Security: Lead the implementation of RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure), BGPsec, and peering security best practices to prevent route hijacking.

  • Automation & Orchestration: Drive "Security as Code" by using Python, Ansible, or Terraform to automate security policy deployments across thousands of nodes.

  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure the network meets industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CALEA, GDPR).

  • Incident Escalation: Act as a Tier 4 subject matter expert during major security breaches or sophisticated network attacks.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years in network engineering with at least 4 years focused specifically on security architecture in a Service Provider or large Enterprise environment.

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.

  • Certifications: Highly preferred: CCIE Security, JNCIE-SEC, CISSP-ISSAP, or GSEC.

  • Soft Skills: Ability to translate complex security risks into business terms for executive leadership.

Our Commitments:
Adaptive Mindset: We meet change headon to build the capabilities we need now. We take personal ownership of our professional development to keep pace with change and actively drive it.
Collective Impact: We treat innovation as a team sport, working powerfully together to create extraordinary impact. We collaborate openly and with a shared purpose and amplify our unique human strengths to solve complex challenges that technology alone cannot.
Customer Ownership: We own our customers' success, whether an internal stakeholder or an external client. We take full accountability, anticipate their needs and create smooth experiences to build trust with every touchpoint. In an automated world, personal ownership is GTT's competitive edge.
