Job description

SimpleMANAGE is seeking an experienced Contract Tax Preparer to support our Garden City, NY office through the September 15 and October 15 extension deadlines. This engagement will focus on a portfolio of real estate and alternative investment entities, including partnerships, TIC structures, Qualified Opportunity Funds, and related holding and operating companies.
The scope is primarily Forms 1065 and 1040, including federal, multistate, composite, and PTET filings. This is not a training position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of assigned returns, work independently in CCH Axcess Tax, and carry complex partnership and real estate tax work through completion.
This is an on-site contract position requiring three days per week in our Garden City office at 900 Stewart Ave, Suite 210, Garden City, NY 11530. The engagement will begin immediately and run through October 15.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review Forms 1065 and 1040, including federal, multistate, composite, and PTET filings
  • Handle partnership allocations, capital accounts, 704(c) items, 754 elections, and related K-1 preparation
  • Review cost segregation studies and incorporate results into depreciation schedules
  • Handle intercompany and related-party items across affiliated entities
  • Manage Qualified Opportunity Zone compliance, including Forms 8996 and 8997
  • Address real estate tax matters including 163(j), 469, 199A, 1031 exchanges, and TIC interests
  • Manage assigned returns through completion and meet September 15 and October 15 deadlines

Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience preparing Forms 1065 and 1040
  • Daily working proficiency with CCH Axcess Tax
  • Advanced partnership tax experience, including 704(b), 704(c), 754, 743(b), and 734(b)
  • Experience with partnership capital accounts, allocations, and K-1 preparation
  • Hands-on experience with cost segregation and real estate depreciation
  • Prior experience with a family office, real estate investment platform, or significant real estate partnership portfolio
  • Working knowledge of New York PTET, composite filings, and nonresident withholding
  • Experience managing a high volume of returns through extension season
  • Ability to work independently and on site in Garden City three days per week
  • No college degree, CPA, or EA designation required
