Hourly Compensation Range: $20.80-24.72

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Under direct supervision, the Food Service Worker prepare and serve food as assigned by the Head Cook in accordance with departmental policies, and state and federal health codes. Individuals in this position also maintain customer service and kitchen preparation areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner and effectively communicate to provide quality service.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals.
  • Assures that food services meet state and local laws, regulations and health codes for sanitation and safety.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining area including cleaning up after all meals.
  • Understand weights and measures and relates them to portion control.
  • Maintain the service and preparation areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Provide assistance to Head cook as directed.
  • Receive all incoming food deliveries and maintain the cleanliness and order of all food storage areas.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Attend all required in-service training seminars.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Other relevant duties as requested.

REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D highly preferred.
  2. Minimum of one year experience in the culinary field, preferably, in a non-profit institution.
  3. Must have a valid Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection.
  4. Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs).
  5. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  6. Position requires on call availability.
