Job description

Summary:
Deseret Cattle & Timber is seeking motivated individuals for seasonal ranch assignments at operations across the United States. Ranch Laborers will assist with daily ranch operations while gaining practical experience in cattle production and ranch management. Working alongside experienced employees, seasonal team members contribute to the success of the operation through hands-on participation in livestock care, ranch maintenance, and other assigned duties.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist during cattle work, including branding, breeding, weaning, and shipping.
  • Assist in daily livestock care activities, including feeding, watering, monitoring cattle health, and basic treatment procedures.
  • Help move and gather cattle while following established animal welfare and low-stress livestock handling practices.
  • Assist with fence construction and repair, water system maintenance, and ranch facility upkeep.
  • Operate and maintain ranch equipment as assigned and trained.
  • Safely perform tasks assigned by ranch leadership.
  • Adhere to all company, ranch, safety, and animal welfare policies and procedures.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to accomplish operational objectives.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Qualifications:
  • Available to work a seasonal assignment of approximately 3 to 4 months beginning in January, May, or August.
  • Interest in a career in livestock production or ranch operations.โ€ข Ability to safely work around livestock, horses, equipment, and varying outdoor conditions, horse and cattle experience required.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the assigned ranch location.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary agricultural coursework or experience preferred.
