Job Summary

The Foster Grandparent Program partners with schools, early education programs, after school programs, and other non-profit entities serving youth providing volunteers to help mentor and tutor children offering both children and volunteers supportive intergenerational relationships.The Area Supervisor is responsible for recruitment, supervision, and coordination of senior volunteers in the stipended Foster Grandparent Program. This position monitors Foster Grandparent activities and addresses needs. The Area Supervisor works with a wide variety of people with varying talents, educational levels, social and cultural diversity, physical and mental abilities and disabilities, while addressing the needs of both youth and seniors. This position is the liaison for the Volunteer stations and communities; thereby ensuring an effective function of the Program and compliance with its regulations.

What you will do

Recruit, interview, orient, train, and place Foster Grandparent volunteers at appropriate volunteer stations.

Provide ongoing supervision through regular site visits, coaching, support, and performance monitoring.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with volunteer stations, including recruitment of new sites, regular communication, and coordination of volunteer placements.

Recruit volunteers and volunteer stations by building relationships with community organizations, senior centers, churches, schools, funders, and other partners.

Serve as a program ambassador by supporting advocacy efforts, communicating program impact, and assisting volunteers in sharing their service stories.

Develop and submit content for newsletters, publications, reports, and media outreach.

Represent the program with community organizations, service clubs, and funding partners.

What we're looking for (Required Qualifications)

Education:

Associate's degree in human services, gerontology, business, volunteer management, or related field.

Experience:

Four (4) years of volunteer management and/or staff supervisory experience. One (1) year of experience in public speaking, marketing, or training in a group setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with or around educational settings, community networking and the aging population a plus, but not required. Commitment to a cause or charity and the betterment of those involved in the Foster Grandparent Program. Effective communication, compassion with helping others, leadership, a strong work ethic, collaboration with others and time management are required.
