Job Description:

Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers is seeking an Associate Editor – Bilingual. The Associate Editor – Bilingual will report, research and write original mission content in English and Spanish for publication in print, digital, online and social media for Maryknoll's print and digital online magazines. To edit stories from staff, missioners and correspondents; proofread articles for the English and Spanish magazines; travel for reporting to Maryknoll missions overseas; represent the magazines at meetings and conferences as assigned; support the editors in production and administrative tasks as required; support the Mission Advancement Department's outreach efforts as needed. Other job responsibilities include helping to manage magazine websites and optimizing web posts (SEO work), preparing social media posts based on magazine content and news stories, and helping to maintain content and production schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church; religion, theology or spirituality studies a plus.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a journalist writing in English and Spanish.
    • A strong understanding of reporting, interviewing, writing, editing, translating and proofreading, with fluency in English and Spanish: a strong news sense and feature-writing ability.
    • Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in MS Word required.
    • lnDesign/lnCopy and WordPress preferred.
    • Proficiency in macOS environment a plus.
    • Experience working with various social media platforms required.
    • Knowledge of photography and basic, short-form video production a plus.
    • Ability to travel both domestic and international is required.

Salary: $71,216.00 per year

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 5:15pm or Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
