Many work in private practice, church settings, or Catholic organizations to offer guidance rooted in faith and professional expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Catholic Counseling position, and why are they important?

Success in Catholic Counseling requires a strong foundation in counseling or psychology, a relevant degree (often a master's), and knowledge of Catholic teachings and values. Certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent, plus familiarity with electronic record-keeping, are commonly expected. Compassion, active listening, and a nonjudgmental attitude are crucial soft skills in this field. These competencies are vital for providing effective guidance that aligns with clients’ faith and ethical needs.
