Host/Hostess – Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront (Catch 31)

Position Overview
Job Title: Host/Hostess
Location: Catch 31 at Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, 3001 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Schedule: Seasonal, Part-Time; variable schedule based on volume (must include weekends and holidays)
Work Environment: Oceanfront hotel right on the boardwalk

Summary:
The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact at Catch 31, responsible for creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest. You will greet and seat guests, manage reservations and wait times, and coordinate takeout, room service, and third-party delivery orders to set the tone for a memorable oceanfront dining experience.

Job Functions:

Welcome Guests
Greet guests with a friendly, welcoming demeanor as they arrive.
Offer a warm smile and verbal greeting to create a positive first impression.
Provide directions or assistance to help guests navigate the restaurant.

Provide Information
Share information about menu offerings, restaurant amenities, and hotel facilities.
Answer guest questions regarding hours of operation, seating, and other inquiries.
Direct guests to the appropriate staff members for further assistance.

Manage Waiting Areas
Maintain order and organization in the waiting area, seating guests promptly.
Manage reservations, waiting lists, and seating arrangements.
Communicate estimated wait times and update guests on their status.

Coordinate Takeout, Room Service, and Delivery Orders
Take, organize, and process takeout orders, ensuring accuracy and timely handoff to guests.
Coordinate room service orders with kitchen and hotel staff for prompt delivery to guest rooms.
Monitor third-party delivery platforms such as Grubhub, entering and managing orders, confirming accuracy, and ensuring timely fulfillment.
Communicate with kitchen staff to relay order timing and special requests across all off-floor orders.

Assist with Special Requests
Accommodate seating preferences, accessibility needs, and other guest requests.
Relay special requests to servers or management to ensure they are fulfilled promptly.

Handle Customer Concerns
Listen attentively to guest feedback, concerns, or complaints, and address them courteously and professionally.
Notify management of any issues that require further attention or resolution.

Maintain Cleanliness and Appearance
Ensure the host stand, entryway, and public areas are clean, tidy, and presentable.
Monitor and restock menus and other materials as needed.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code policies.

Promote Customer Satisfaction
Exceed guest expectations through exceptional service and attention to detail.
Foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return.
Seek opportunities to enhance the overall guest experience.

Qualifications
Friendly and outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong communication abilities, both verbal and non-verbal.
Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on guest satisfaction.
Ability to remain calm and composed in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
Ability to manage multiple order channels (dine-in, takeout, room service, and delivery apps) simultaneously.
Basic knowledge of the restaurant's menu, services, and layout.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
