Company Description The Cat Practice is a specialized veterinary clinic focused exclusively on feline health and well-being, offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care for cats. Located in Birmingham, MI, the clinic provides a calm, cat-friendly environment designed to reduce stress and promote comfort for patients and their caregivers. The team is dedicated to compassionate care, clear communication, and high-quality service for every cat and client. The Cat Practice values teamwork, reliability, and a respectful workplace where all staff members contribute to excellent patient care.
Role Description The Part-Time Cat Care / Kennel Assistant supports the daily care and comfort of cats staying at The Cat Practice’s facility. This on-site role in Birmingham, MI includes feeding, watering, cleaning kennels and litter boxes, monitoring behavior and health, and reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Responsibilities also involve maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, handling laundry for bedding and towels, and assisting with basic grooming or handling tasks as directed. The assistant will interact with clients in a professional, friendly manner when admitting or discharging cats and help ensure a calm, safe environment for all patients. This is a part-time position and may require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe, compassionate handling of cats.
  • Experience or comfort with Animal Handling, particularly in a clinical or kennel setting.
  • Ability to manage Laundry and basic cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Strong Communication skills for interacting with clients and collaborating with veterinary team members.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift; comfort working around animals and cleaning products.
  • Prior experience in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or kennel is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to learn clinic protocols and attend training as needed.
