Job description

About HumanSignal

Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.

HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery.

We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide.

We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out.

If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk.

Casting & Talent Coordinator

HumanSignal operates a production studio in Columbus where local performers record on-camera sessions used to train AI systems. We're looking for a part-time Casting & Talent Coordinator to build and manage a strong, reliable pipeline of local performers. You'll be representing this work to a performing arts community that has questions about AI, so comfort having that conversation directly matters.

What you'll do

  • Recruit professional actors, voice actors, aspiring performers, and people with strong natural on-camera presence through in-person and online outreach.
  • Build relationships across Columbus's theater, improv, comedy, campus, and creative communities, including attending occasional shows, showcases, campus events, and community meetups.
  • Manage outreach through job boards, Facebook groups, social platforms, community partners, and other recruiting channels.
  • Identify people who are engaging on camera, take direction well, and are interested in flexible paid work.
  • Review portfolios, reels, and applications; schedule and conduct short Zoom readings; and recommend who should move forward, with clear rationale.
  • Prepare candidates for their initial screening by clearly explaining the format, expectations, and next steps.
  • Coordinate candidate communication and track progress across sourcing, outreach, screening, selection, and onboarding.
  • Share feedback on which recruiting channels are working and test new approaches when the pipeline needs improvement.

Who you are

  • You have experience in casting, talent booking, recruiting, theater or improv production, community outreach, or a related field, or you have strong relationships across Columbus's performing arts community.
  • You are comfortable approaching new people, building trust, and representing HumanSignal professionally in creative communities.
  • You can recognize strong on-camera presence and potential, make sound screening recommendations, and explain your reasoning clearly.
  • You know how to help candidates feel prepared and confident without over-coaching them.
  • You are resourceful and persistent. When one recruiting channel isn't working, you test new messages, venues, partnerships, or sources.
  • You are organized and can maintain accurate records across multiple recruiting channels and stages of the candidate pipeline.
  • You communicate clearly and can discuss the nature of AI-related work transparently and respectfully, including responding thoughtfully to questions or concerns.
  • You are based in the Columbus area and available for occasional evening or weekend recruiting events.

Details

  • Part-time, flexible, approximately 15–20 hours per week
  • 8-12 week contract (until project completion), starting as soon as possible
  • Mix of in-person and remote work in Columbus
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability required
  • $25–$40/hour, depending on relevant experience and local network
  • Pre-approved expenses covered for event fees, mileage, etc.
