Job description

Summary

Responsible for operating machines and equipment within the Casting department. Casting operators may perform several different functions within the Casting department in order to meet production needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Follows safety rules 100% of the time.

· Contributes to a safe work environment by following housekeeping guidelines.

· Maintains good attendance.

· Follows instructions and works to meet daily job assignments and KPI’s.

· Rotates within work area when directed.

· Monitors equipment condition and production quality and ensures all products (whether conforming or non-conforming) is processed in accordance with quality guidelines, customer requirements and the company’s control plan.

· Openly communicates with team leader and/or quality regarding concerns.

· Completes product tracking logs for various types of products.

· Performs other Relevant work as assigned.

· Complete required paperwork neatly and in a timely manner

· Other duties as assigned or designated.

· Casting Operators perform at least one, but often several, of the below functions:

Desprue

· Checks the result of automatic desprue process.

· Examines appearance of wheels.

Deslag

· Opens amp; Closes furnace door for pours.

· Push slag.

· Replenishes aluminum liquid for casting holding furnaces.

· Deslag low-pressure casting holding furnaces.

Download

· Prepares, sorts and stacks finished wheels.

· Stores and/or ships finished wheels.

Heat Treatment

· Performs operation of heat treatment equipment in accordance with quality standards.

X-Ray

· Performs operation of x-ray inspection in accordance with quality standards.

Ancillary/1st Piece Inspection

· Visually and mechanically verifies quality points on each casting at specified intervals.

· Decides whether the inspected product meets quality standards.

· Communicates with other operators to rectify any abnormalities.

Skills and Experience

· High School Diploma or GED

· Six months experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Ability to read and understand written documents.

· Responsible for staying focused on tasks at hand.

· Being responsible for work performance and completing tasks throughout the day

Physical Work Conditions

· Must be able to work in a hot environment.

· Must be able to lift varying weights

· Must be able to push or pull carts of wheels.

· Must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day.

· Must be able to wear personal protective equipment when required.
